PDO Thread FAQs

Does the Procedure Hurt?

Lidocaine will be injected into your skin so that you won’t feel pain as the threads are being placed. You likely will feel some pressure and, when the lidocaine wears off, you will have tenderness in the treated area that should go away after a few days. In addition, you may have several weeks of feeling twinges and/or unusual tightness in the area.

What Benefits Will I See?

Once the threads are inserted, you may get an instant lift. As the months go on, the threads will stimulate collagen production which increases elasticity, improves texture and minimizes fine lines.

What Body Parts Can Be Treated?

PDO Threads can be inserted into any area where the skin is showing laxity. They are most frequently used in the face and neck, but can be used above the knees, in the abdomen, chest or in any other area.

Is There Down Time?

It is possible to have swelling and bruising, although some people don’t have either. We recommend doing the procedure at a time when you don’t have many social activities scheduled for several days. We also recommend not doing heavy exercise (running, mountain biking) for 96 hours after the procedure.

How Many Treatments Are Needed?

You will come in for your initial placement and a follow-up appointment will be scheduled for about 4-6 weeks later. It is common for several additional threads to be placed at the follow-up. After that, we recommend returning at about the 10 month mark to have another set of threads placed. Even though you will likely still be seeing results, the new threads will build upon the collagen that is built up and help your results to last longer and longer.

How Long Does the Procedure Take?

Depending upon how large of an area is being treated and how many threads will be placed, the procedure can take anywhere from 30 – 90 minutes.

How Much Does It Cost?

When you meet with one of our providers, an exact cost will be given to you based upon how many areas will be treated.

What Are the Possible Risks?

As with any procedure, the possible side effects include bruising, swelling, infection, scaring and nerve damage. All of these will be discussed in detail during your consultation. Call or book online for your consultation at SoCo Facial Esthetics today.
